At Arena Leisure we pride our self on the composition of our team. We are an enthusiastic friendly team who always deliver to the best of our ability, inspiring and motivating along the way.

A day in the life

Because of the exciting prospect of working at such an acclaimed event, we wanted to give a glimpse into working for ALC.

I have been working for Arena Leisure at Wolverhampton Racecourse since October 2008 starting out as a waitress working busy race nights in our Premier Horizon Restaurant. Since then I have progressed within the company gaining extensive experience and meeting some fantastic people. I have made numerous friends amongst my colleagues (some of which nominated me for a "Celebrate Service Award") I have worked in a variety of areas within the business; race days, conference and banqueting and Holiday Inn Duty Manager shifts. I have had a great time supporting larger events such as the Promise Dreams Charity Ball, Worcestershire Ambassadors Ball and at many of Arena's racecourses countrywide. I have also had the privilege to meet many celebrities including Beverley Knight and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Arena has given me a fantastic opportunity to meet people from all backgrounds and personally achieve an all-round knowledge of hospitality and catering. I now have the opportunity to work at London 2012 Olympic Games as a staffing assistant manager and I am so excited about being part of such an amazing team. I will embrace the challenge to further my career and be exposed to future opportunities.

Our venues

Arena Leisure delivers in excess of 400 racing event days and a further 400 or more other event days across the year. Our racecourses are all across the country; Doncaster, Folkestone, Lingfield Park, Windsor, Wolverhampton, Worcester and Southwell.

Our events range from 'All Weather' racedays where the anticipated crowd would not exceed 500 guests, to the St Leger Festival which runs over four days attracting around 65,000 visitors. Among these visitors we deliver to 8,000 hospitality guests and 2,400 restaurants diners.

• The new fish and chips shop at Windsor racecourse sold an impressive 600 kilos of chips to go with 250 fish on Irish night
• Doncaster racecourse, which dates back to the 16th century, will sell more than £100k of champagne over the famous four day St Leger Festival
• We don't just do racing, we do concerts. The Wanted, Texas and McFly to name a few
• ALC employs 3,000 casual staff
